Medical students shadow doctors in the operating room. When handling clinics, they will do vital signs, assess the patient's ailment and work with other medical professionals to determine tests and diagnosis. It's a hands-on experience they would not receive in the United States. And the Haitian people are grateful and appreciative to have an opportunity to see someone who can help diagnose a rash or abdominal pain or even acne to name a few.
