Did you know that cervical cancer is the easiest treatable cancer there is? That is if it's diagnosed in time, of course. That's one of the problems with the Haitian healthcare system; they lack the medical professionals to diagnose and treat women with cervical cancer. It's a catastrophe. The women in Haiti are the backbone of the family. And when a mother dies, often, her children are left as orphans.
In October 2015 H3Missions teamed up with PAPS team international and set up a cervical cancer screening clinic in the northern part of Haiti, in a small town called Port de Paix. The trip had many ups and downs, but at the end of the 14 days, we screened, diagnosed and treated 708 women for cervical cancer. Of that 708, 35 L.E.E.P procedures were performed on diagnosed cancer patients, and 1% (9 women) were told that their cancer was too far along to be helped.
Our trip was so successful that we have planned another women's clinic in October of 2017. To learn more or to be a part of this life-changing event, please contact us for more information.
